Honoring our Veterans locally

Grimes County is an avid supporter of Veterans who have and are currently serving the great United States of America. Veterans Day is Monday, Nov. 11.

There are several celebrations planned to honor Veterans ranging from a parade to several breakfasts at local schools. Veterans are welcome to attend all events however it is recommended that Veterans planning to attend school celebrations contact the local schools so they may be recognized during the program.

Celebrations will begin Friday, Nov. 8, with a celebration at High Point Elementary, from 1:45 p.m. till 2:30 p.m.

Grimes County Veterans of Foreign War Post 4006 invites all Veterans to join in a parade beginning at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9. The parade route begins at the corner of Brosig Avenue and East Washington Avenue in Navasota and will conclude at the parking lot of Turner Pierce & Fultz. Lunch will be served at the post following the parade.

John C. Webb Elementary, Veterans Day Program Monday, Nov. 11, 2:30 p.m., Brosig Auditorium.

Brule Elementary, Veterans Day Program Monday, Nov. 11, 2:30 p.m., Brosig Auditorium.

Navasota Junior High School, A Tribute to our Veterans, Monday, Nov. 11, 9 a.m., Navasota Junior High Fang Gym.

Anderson-Shiro CISD, Veterans Day Program, Monday, Nov. 11, Breakfast at high school cafeteria and program in high school gym.

Iola ISD Veterans Day Breakfast Monday, Nov. 11, 9a.m. till 10 a.m. Veterans Day Assembly from 10 a.m. till 11 a.m. Students and faculty are encouraged to wear red, white and blue.

Bedias Women’s Club will host their annual Veterans Day Luncheon Monday, Nov. 11, at 5 p.m. at the Bedias Civic Center. Make reservations by contacting Michelle Bobo, michelle bobo1996@yahoo.com.

The Shiro Seniors monthly luncheon is open to all ages Wednesday, Nov. 13, for their Veterans Appreciation Lunch. Call 936-290-6530, for more information.
