Follow the smoke to the annual Grimes County Go Texan Jan. 27-29 at the Grimes County Expo Center.
The fun begins Jan. 27 with a Go Texan Sponsor Dinner from 6-7 p.m. Try your luck and bid on items for a great cause during the reverse raffle and auction from 7-10 p.m. For more information contact Angie Imhoff, 936-894-2228.
Concession are open Jan. 28, from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m. Bloody Mary judging is at 9 a.m. followed by pinto bean judging at 11 a.m. and chili judging at noon. A cornhole contest kicks-off in the main hall at 4 p.m. Also, at 4 p.m., the 70th anniversary of the Harris County Mounted Posses continues their heartfelt tradition delivering the official Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo proclamation to Grimes County.
Later Saturday night, teens can put on their dancing shoes and show off their dance moves during the annual teen dance in the Lions Club building from 8 p.m. until midnight. Music will be provided by DJ Terry Meyers. Gate admission from 3-11 p.m. is $10 per person and includes the teen dance. Children five and under are free.
Concessions are open from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on championship Sunday. Cookoff judging begins at 10 a.m. with presentation of awards at 3 p.m.
