ANDERSON - A drug dealer was dealt hard time after pleading guilty to Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver.

Michael Ray Peterson Jr. was sentenced to 15-years in the Texas Department of Corrections after taking a plea. Peterson was facing two first-degree felony charges with each charge having a punishment ranging from five to 99 years in prison.

On Friday, June 7, 2019, Department of Public Safety Trooper Russell Gallo conducted a traffic stop on Farm to Market Road 1774 for a traffic violation. Upon initial contact, Peters was identified as the driver. Gallo smelled marijuana in the vehicle. Peterson was subsequently arrested for Driving while License Invalid.

A search of the vehicle was conducted following the arrest. During the search Gallo located a zippered bag and a Smith and Wesson pistol under the seat. The gun was determined to be stolen out of Harris County.

Inside the zippered bag were marijuana, crack-cocaine, methamphetamine, Oxycodone pills and Ecstasy pills in the shape of President Donald Trump’s face and a scale. Peterson also had a large bundle of cash.

Assistant District Attorney David Armbruster represented the State before 12th District Judge Donald Kaemer.

“Peterson was arrested twice in a six-month period under similar circumstances. He was selling illegal narcotics in this community and continued to sell narcotics even after the first arrest,” stated Armbruster. “This type of criminal behavior is not being tolerated in Grimes County. Drug dealing here will land you in prison.”

Peterson is currently at Grimes County Jail awaiting transfer to prison.
