ANDERSON- An Anderson Volunteer Firefighters wife was seriously injured Saturday, Dec. 14, on Texas State Highway 90 in Anderson.

Anderson VFD was dispatched to an accident North of Farm to Market 244 in Anderson near Mari Lane Saturday afternoon around 3:27 p.m. Anderson VFD Chief Michael Kimich stated the firefighter responded to the scene in his personal vehicle and his wife was with him at the time.

The firefighter’s wife was standing near a gate on private property when a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck traveling southbound approached the scene and swerved to the right to avoid cars that were stopped at the accident. As the vehicle approached, the fire fighter’s wife is reported to have shoved a child out of the path of the oncoming vehicle when she was struck.

She was transported to CHI St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan having suffered a broken leg and various minor injuries. Department of Public Safety Sargent Jimmy Morgan stated Tuesday, Dec. 17, the investigation is continuing, and the driver of the pickup hasn’t been arrested or cited.
