The Grimes County Retired Teachers Association is following the state movement to adopt a name that represents all people who have worked in any position in public education or any position that provided retirement benefits under the Teacher Retirement System (TRS).

The new name will be Grimes County Retired School Personnel. Many organizations have already changed to the new name so there will be no misunderstanding that any person who worked in Texas public education is eligible and welcome as a member. You do not have to have been employed in Grimes County.

At 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, GCRSP will meet at Zion Lutheran Church in Anderson. The guest speaker is new State Representative Kyle Kacal. He will be discussing information regarding topics of special interest to retired school personnel and also alert the group to legislation pertaining to education that is currently being filed.

If you would like additional information regarding upcoming meetings, contact President Erna Freeman, 936-873-2361 or Parliamentarian Marilyn Bettes, 936-894-2263.
