Gold Star Peer Award

Iola Secondary School Principal, Brian Fowler (right), presents FFA teacher Corey Ferguson with the Gold Star Peer Award for January along with a $50 Amazon gift card. Ferguson was nominated by one of his peers for his kindness and commitment to the school. The nomination stated, “Ferg is a leader among his peers and one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. But he's also incredibly smart and proactive when it comes to problem solving. If he walks by your classroom and notices you're not looking all that chipper, he will take time (even though he has practically none) to come in and check on you. If what is bothering you is related to a problem, he'll help you brainstorm a solution. He's empathetic and both validates your feelings while also helping you to be optimistic. Iola would not be nearly as positive or productive without Ferg.”
