After reconvening from Executive Session as permitted by Texas Government Code 551.074, county commissioners announced the appointment of Subdivision Coordinator Todd Greene as Interim Road & Bridge Administrator in preparation for the Sept. 30 retirement of R&B Engineer Harry Walker. The decision was made at the Aug. 2, 2023, Regular Meeting of Grimes County Commissioners Court.
Greene’s appointment was effective Aug. 1, and he’ll receive a $3,000 stipend in August and September which is subject to review in late September.
In a related item, commissioners approved appointing Pct. 2 Commissioner David Tullos, Pct. 4 Commissioner Phillip Cox, Human Resources Director Talitta Coleman and Walker to a committee to locate a search firm to assist with finding a qualified engineer.
Favoring the use of a “headhunter,” Tullos said, “Speaking with our Human Resources Department, we have not at this point received a single application that meets the criteria to replace Mr. Walker.”
According to Tullos, funding is available based on the court’s anticipation last year of hiring Walker’s replacement early enough to train with him before his retirement.
