The Grimes County Republican Party’s March 1 Primary Ballot Draw was attended by three statewide candidates who came to Navasota to participate in person, as well as candidates for the three-way race for Grimes County’s County Clerk position. The drawing was held Wednesday, Dec. 22, at GCRP headquarters on Farquhar Street.

Attending were Chad Prather, one of several challengers to Gov. Greg Abbott, Cary Council, a challenger to Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller, and General Land Office Commissioner candidate Jon Spiers who is campaigning for the seat being vacated by George P. Bush.

In county races, two of the three candidates for County Clerk were present to draw for their spots on the ballot, incumbent Vanessa Burzynski and Brittney Husfeld. Drawing for Stacey Male was her son, Weston.

A number of candidates who are unopposed on the Republican Primary ticket such as District Clerk Diane LeFlore, Pct. 4 Commissioner Phillip Cox, and County Treasurer Tom Maynard, attended and drew for ballot position on behalf of candidates not present.

Witnessing the ballot drawing process in an official capacity was Grimes County Elections Administrator Lucy Ybarra.
