The Navasota Public Library will have a book signing February 25, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. by David A. Bowles, author of the Westward Sagas series. His new book, "Comanche Trace" is about Fayette Smith. In Austin, TX in 1841 while celebrating his ninth birthday, Smith was abducted by the Comanche, a Native American tribe. He was brought to Santa Fe, NM where he was sold to the Comancheros. Three years later he was returned and grew up to be one of the early founders of Navasota, TX. He married Elizabeth Gresham, raised a large family and built a two-story Victorian home in 1888. The home still stands at 904 E. Washington Ave. in Navasota. Fayette and Elizabeth are buried side-by-side at Oakland Cemetery, 801 Sixth St. in Navasota.

The library is at 1411 E. Washington Ave. in Navasota. Call 936-825-6744 for more information or visit their websites,
