Let your voice be heard! The Navasota community is encouraged to attend a strategic planning workshop Tuesday, April 4, from 6-8 p.m. at the City Council Chambers inside City Hall, 200 E McAlpine Street.

In preparation for a goal-setting session, the city would like to hear feedback from citizens regarding what they’d like to see included in the council’s plans and budget for the next two to three years.

Strategic planning determines where an organization is going, and how it will get there. Following a process that will comprehensively and equitably evaluate the city and the community, the resulting plan will include short and long-term strategic goals and objectives with measurable performance indicators. The plan, expected to be completed this summer, will direct the city’s efforts and resources toward a clearly defined vision for its future.

The city selected Alysia A. Cook, PCED, IOM with Opportunity Strategies LLC for strategic planning services. Alysia has been a professional facilitator and trainer for 29 years, serving many communities across the U.S. and training thousands of economic development & chamber professionals. She has led the public input process for numerous town hall meetings and public hearings for economic development and strategic planning projects. Alysia will be facilitating the Navasota Town Hall Meeting on April 4.

“The goal of this process is to give direction to the city and the city council over the coming years,” said Navasota City Manager, Jason Weeks. “As short and long-term projects are considered, city leaders will ensure they align with the vision and goals established within the strategic plan.”

There will be a series of specialized workshop meetings following the public town hall meeting which will include stakeholder groups such as, developers, realtors, industry leaders, business owners, downtown property owners, education, health and public safety, non-profit organizations and boards and commissions.

The City of Navasota wants to hear from you! RSVP are not required.
