Navasota MLK Celebration Jan. 14

Navasota Citywide Mission and the City of Navasota are hosting their annual Martin Luther King Day Parade and Memorial Service Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023. 

 

The parade will begin promptly at 11 a.m. beginning at the intersection of Brosig and Washington Ave. The parade will travel west on Washington Ave. and turn left onto South LaSalle Street ending at the end at G.W. Carver Community Center on Spur 515. Participation in the parade is free and does not require registration. Participants are asked to begin lining up on Brosig Avenue at 10 a.m.

 

Immediately following the parade, a Memorial Service will be held to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at Friendship Baptist Church, 1111 S. LaSalle Street. Local officials and area pastors will present as well as keynote speaker, Melanye Price, Director for the Ruth J. Simmons Center for Race and Justice at Prairie View A&M University.
