The Book Drive benefiting the Navasota Head Start program will end Dec.14, but there is still time to donate new or slightly used children’s books, along with toys. Donations can be dropped off at the Muddy Water Book Store,102 E. Washington. Local participation has been good, allowing the Progressive Women of Grimes County club to provide a book for each of the 68 children, ages three to five, who reap the rewards of early education.

A Holiday meet and greet will be held Saturday, Dec.14, 11 a.m. at 201 W. Washington. Everyone is invited to join us for hot chocolate and cookies. We will be putting the gift bags together in preparation of delivering them on the morning of Friday, December 20. Hope to see you there.

Following the Holiday Open House of the Progressive Women of Grimes County there will be a meet and greet with Mary Jennings Hegar, a Democratic candidate for United States Senator in 2020.

M.J. Hegar is an Air Force veteran, businesswoman and teacher. She will be speaking in an open forum Saturday, Dec. 14, at 12:30 p.m. The location is 201 W. Washington, Navasota. Both the Open house and meet and greet are open to the public.
