Schaper speaks to Keith Civic Club

Several area residents attended the wedding of Jordan Alexis Banta and Michael Cole Johnson Saturday, April 30, at the Ranch House in Caldwell. The young couple will make their home on CR 175 at the old Trant home in the community. The weather was warm, but everything went well. The wedding was performed by Rev. Blane Trant who is well known in the Keith community. Following the wedding a meal was served. May God bless them in their life together.

The monthly meeting of the Keith Civic Club was held at the Keith Community Center Thursday, April 28, with a good number in attendance. The meeting began with a covered dish meal that was enjoyed by all. Constable Dale Schaper was the guest speaker and gave a great speech about safety in the home. Hope everyone will take his advice. There will be other guest speakers at upcoming meetings. Also, the building needs a new roof. Hopefully the money will be raised soon.

The monthly meeting of the Orphans Friend Masonic Lodge No 17 was held at their lodge hall in Anderson Monday, May 2, with a good number of members and visitors attending. The covered dish meal was enjoyed by all. A variety of business was discussed and acted on during the meeting. More fundraisers will take place and the hall will be rented for a graduation party.

Bedias Masonic Lodge No 651 held their monthly meeting Tuesday, May 3, at their lodge hall. A covered dish meal was enjoyed by all. A variety of business was discussed in the meeting. There was also discussion about scholarships. The installation of new lodge officers will take place at the next meeting.

Area residents were sorry to learn of the death of James Robert Jim Hale, 85 of Iola, who passed away at his home Saturday, May 7. Graveside services were held at the Lake Grove Cemetery with Rev. C.M. Mac Vaughn officiating. There was also a Masonic service with Clyde Collins officiating.

Hale was born in Cushing, Oklahoma to John Milton and Myrtle Agnes Nunnally Hale. He and his wife Cricket lived in the area for many years. He was a member of Siloam Masonic Lodge No 276 in Oklahoma City and other Masonic bodies. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife. Do remember his children and grandchildren in your prayers. His services were entrusted to Lindley Robertson Holt Funeral home in Navasota.
