The driver of a Chevrolet truck was transported to the hospital after colliding with a stolen church van Friday, April 19.

Navasota Police Officers responded to a collision on Texas State Highway 6 and Farm to Market Road 3090 at approximately 5:18 a.m. Upon arrival officers noticed a Chevrolet truck driven by Arthur Thomas, was involved in a collision with a Chevrolet Express van.

Thomas suffered unspecified injuries and was transported to Scott & White Hospital in College Station.

Officers said a witness reported the truck driven by Thomas was traveling on FM 3090 and the van occupied by two young males, ran the stop sign and was struck on the side by the truck causing the van to roll over.

The witness observed the two young males exit the van and flee southbound from the scene on foot.

The van was registered to Salem House of Blessings church in Navasota. Officers contacted church officials who said the van should’ve been parked at the church and no one should be driving it.

Officers located blood and other evidence inside the van, but no suspects have been identified at this time.

Navasota Police Chief Shawn Myatt urges anyone with information related to the investigation to contact Navasota Police Department 936-825-6410, or Grimes County Crime Stoppers 936-873-2000.
