GRIMES COUNTY – Beginning Tuesday, Oct. 4, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT’s) contractor will begin a traffic switch for the next phase of the Texas State Highway 6/ Farm-to-Market 2 overpass project. This switch will close the crossover in the intersection and only right turns to or from FM 2 will be possible. A detour route will be signed for diverted FM 2 traffic (attached) to use SH 6 crossovers north and south of FM 2. This traffic switch will also reduce SH 6 through the project to one lane in each direction, separated by concrete barrier. This phase of work is to replace the southbound SH 6 Beason Creek bridge and is expected to last approximately 8 months.

This work is part of the $18.5M project awarded to Larry Young Paving for the construction of an overpass at the intersection of SH 6 and FM 2, as well as replace the SH 6 bridges over Beason Creek.
