The Navasota Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z) held a Regular meeting Thursday, Dec. 12. Meeting for the last time in 2019, commissioners began with a public hearing for the eight properties in the Airport Growth Center discussed at their Oct. 24 workshop. Community Relations Specialist Kris Gruver reiterated the purpose of rezoning Agriculture/Open Space Districts was to align with the City of Navasota Comprehensive Plan and to streamline the development process.

With no public comments for or against, commissioners moved ahead to rezone two properties in the Industrial Park area northwest of S. La-Salle and FM 379 from Agriculture/Open Space District (A/O) to M-1, Light Industrial.

Six properties in or adjacent to the River Haven subdivision on W. Washington Avenue/ SH 105 West were all rezoned from A/O to residential - four to R-1C, low density single dwelling units with 2-acre lots or larger that complement the lot sizes within the subdivision, and two to R-3, high density, multi-dwelling units to encourage multi-family development.
