Bruce James Blackman was born July 19, 1939 in Somers Point, New Jersey and passed away Monday, June 21, 2021 in Bryan, Texas. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Navasota.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society or Trinity Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.

Bruce was baptized March 24, 1940 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Atlantic City, New Jersey by John McMillan and confirmed June 30, 1974 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Spring Branch

High School in 1959 and attended University of Houston and Sam Houston State.

Bruce and Gloria Ann Wehmeyer were married at Trinity Lutheran Church in Navasota on September 30, 1967. Bruce was employed by the City of Houston for a number of years – first as a draftsman and later as a property appraiser. He was also a homebuilder, worked for Cy-Fair ISD in the Maintenance Department and more recently after retirement at Penske.

He is survived by wife, Gloria Wehmeyer Blackman; son, Jason & wife Roddi Blackman of Houston, daughter, Cheryl Blackman of Navasota; son, Logan & wife Lois Blackman of Bryan; granddaughter, Keeli Blackman of Houston; brother, Robert Blackman and spouse Mark Malone of Palm Springs, California; sister, Bette & husband George Schnitzer of Nashville, Tennessee and sister Debi & husband Dan McDowell of Nashville; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and brother-in-law Ray & wife Mary Anne Wehmeyer of Navasota.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Helen Blackman.
