J Lynn Tyler, Sr., 87, of Clifton, Texas, passed away Sunday, June 19, at Goodall-Witcher Hospital. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 24, at First Baptist Church with visitation beginning at 12:30 p.m. prior to the service in the Family Life Center. Dr. Tim Owens will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel.

J Lynn was born July 12, 1934 in Groesbeck, Texas. He graduated from Humble High School in 1953 and married his high school sweetheart, Dorris Jean Harmon on January 30, 1954 in Houston, Texas. J Lynn became a Mason in 2007, Lodge #7217 and then became a Shriner. He was a member of Iola Missionary Baptist Church. J Lynn raised his children with discipline, humbleness and Christian morals and values. All that knew him knew how particular he was. He hand wrote on his will one last instruction to his children; “Be sure to change your car oil.”

He is survived by his wife Dorris; daughters, Lynnette Henry (Brett) and Teri Law (Kerry); son, J Lynn Tyler, Jr. (Amanda); grandchildren, Suzanne Stoneham, Elizabeth Urban, Eric Law, Tyler Law, Sarah Tyler, and Rebekah Tyler; and his great-grandchildren, Jackson, Jeffery and Julia Stoneham, Jobe and Knox Law and Jesse and Mason Urban.

J was preceded in death by his mother, Idella Tyler; sister, Lillie Mae Willeford; brother, J. W. Tyler; grandson, Jeremy Law; and his great-granddaughter, Jamie Stoneham.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in his memory to Iola missionary Baptist Church or the Shriners Hospital.
