Raymond Leon Pirtle, 81 years of age of Iola Texas, passed away May 22, 2023, surrounded by family. He was born April 10, 1942. Raymond was born to Raymond and Edith Pirtle in Purcell, Oklahoma.

After a long career in the oilfield, he opened his own business – welding custom BBQ pits, home décor, and furniture. During this time of his life, he was known as The Cast Iron Cowboy. Raymond stated that was the happiest he had ever been in his career.

He was preceded in death by his son Shannon Leon Pirtle; his parents Raymond and Edith Pirtle of Elmore City, OK; sister, Rosemary Keesee; brother Roy Albert Pirtle; and son in law, Bobby Eldon Hatton.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 62 years Charlotte Ruth Pirtle; son, Chuck & Becky Pirtle; daughter, Sharonda Pirtle and partner Kenny Moore; daughter, Shelley Hatton; daughter, Sharia & Stacey Stabler; 13 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren; sister, Debbie Baker and husband Ronnie, brother, David Pirtle and wife Connie and brother Joe Pirtle along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Per his instructions there will be a private service held May 28, 2023 for family.

In leu of flowers the family has asked that a donation be made in Leons name to the Grimes County Fair Association, PO Box 630, Anderson, Texas 77830.
