Grimes County is a unique place with several communities that make it a special place. The Examiner provides a platform for those communities, but we need your help. Many newspapers don’t publish community columnists, but we at The Examiner know how important communities are to Grimes County. Our columnists strive to provide community- specific news about volunteer fire departments, community organizations, local fundraisers, information about past and current community members, school and church news.
Despite their desire to publish local news and diligent effort to gather information, a lot of news goes unreported. To ensure the best coverage for your community, it takes a group effort. You, as a community member, can contribute to columns by providing local information to columnists.
It is important to remember what we permit our columnists to publish. If your VFW is hosting a barbecue fundraiser, your church has a revival, a community member celebrated a birthday, anniversary, got married or gave birth, a new business opening etc. – we are happy to publish that news.
However, some information is best reserved for advertising in the newspaper such as restaurant specials, paid concerts or events, garage sales etc. We are happy to visit with you and share advertising pricing to accommodate your needs and budget.
