GC machine pitch all-stars conclude season

Local Grimes County Little League machine pitch baseball and softball all-star teams concluded their season last week in District 13 competition.

Machine Pitch Baseball

7/YO

The Grimes County 7-year old machine pitch baseball team began all-star play knocking off Burleson County Nationals 16-2 in a warmup game.

The slew of runs couldn’t continue as GC dropped a pair of games in tournament play to end its season. Grimes County faced a tough Columbus team and dropped an 8-2 decision and then fell to Burleson County American 12-1.

Machine Pitch Baseball

7/8 YO

Grimes County’s 7/8-year-old machine pitch baseball all-star team began with an 11-3 loss to Lee County in its warmup game.

The GC boys scored more in the first round of tournament play but were doubled by Sealy 16-8. They concluded all-star play with a tough loss to La Grange National 14-4.

Machine Pitch Softball

The youthful machine pitch softball all-stars gained a ton of experience but couldn’t pick up a win in district play.

They began with a thrilling 13-10 loss to La Grange American in their warmup game. They faced the La Grange National team in the opening game of tournament play but fell shy 14-3.

GC was shut out 15-0 against Lee County to conclude the season.

International All Stars gets underway next week. Grimes County will have four teams competing at the district level of international play.

Intermediate Baseball

Grimes County will host the intermediate baseball tournament consisting of three teams beginning Monday, June 17.

Burleson County and La Grange will begin the tournament at 7 p.m. Grimes County will host the winner of that game Tuesday, June 18, at the same time. GC will play Thursday, June 20, if they win and Wednesday, June 19, if they lose. The tournament is expected to conclude by Friday, June 21.

Minor Baseball

Minor baseball heads to Brenham for the district round of the international all-star tournament. They will face Sealy Monday, June 17, at 6 p.m. on Schroeder Field.

A win will have them playing Wednesday, June 19, at 6 p.m. on Dallmeyer Field and a loss means they play Tuesday, June 18, 8 p.m. on Dallmeyer Field.

Minor Softball

The minor softball team will play their tournament in La Grange. They have a first-round bye and will meet the winner of Lee County and Washington County Tuesday, June 18, at 6 p.m. A win moves the GC girls to play Thursday, June 20, at 8 p.m.

A loss sets up a 6 p.m. game Thursday, June 20.

Major Softball

Columbus is the site of the major girls’ softball tournament. Grimes County opens play Monday, June 17, at 6 p.m. against La Grange. A win and GC will play Columbus Tuesday, June 18, at 8 p.m. A loss and GC will play at 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 19.
