Lady Bulldogs show mental toughness

    Iola’s junior varsity team cheers loudly for the Lady Bulldog’s during their 3-1 win at Normangee.

The Iola Lady Bulldogs continue to grind improving to 31-3 on the season and 2-1 in district.

The Lady Bulldogs suffered their first district loss to a tough Leon team Tuesday, Sept. 27, (25-27, 25-11, 21-25, 14-25). However, that did not stop their drive to success.

Friday, Sept. 30 at Normangee Iola traveled to Normangee to neon out the Lady Panthers Friday, Sept. 30, picking up a 3-1 win over the Lady Panthers (25-15, 16-25, 2521, 25-21).

“I’m very proud of our whole team for their mental toughness this week,” stated Iola Head Coach Jamie McDougald. “In a week with very difficult circumstances, they practiced and played hard. We had two very difficult matchups this week. Hopefully, next week we can get a good week of practice in and incorporate a few new things and be ready to go in round two of district.”

The Lady Bulldogs journeyed to Hearne Tuesday, Oct. 4 to play the Lady Eagles (results were not available at press time). They play again Friday Oct. 7, hosting the Rosebud-Lott Lady Cougars.
