Lady Fangs compete in playoffs

Navasota Junior High Lady Fang volleyball teams squared off in playoff action Oct. 19, in Navasota.

The eighth-grade teams hosted La Grange and seventh grade hosted Sealy. Navasota’s eighth grade A team lost to the Lady Leopards 2-0 (25-16, 15-12). Madison Mock served six aces in her rotations.

The eighth-grade B team defeated La Grange 2-1 (2325, 26-24, 6-15). Carli Ponton was credited as being the team’s top server. The eighth-grade season concluded against La Grange. Head Coach Stacey Essman said the team learned a lot this season and will be ready for high school next season.

Navasota’s seventh-grade A team fell to Sealy 2-1 (15-25, 26-24, 6-15). Head Coach Gwen Wesley said her entire team played great against a tough Lady Tiger team. Seventh-grade B team dropped their game to Sealy 2-0 (25-20, 25-7). Sofia Aguinaga was recognized as the team’s best server.

Both seventh-grade teams play at La Grange Thursday, Oct. 26, with games slated for a 5:30 p.m. serve.
