Lady Rattlers remain undefeated

It has been a hot start for the Navasota Lady Rattlers who remain undefeated through nine games and are ranked 21st in 4A.

 

During this undefeated stretch, the Lady Rattlers picked up a tournament championship in Crockett going 5-0.

 

Crockett Tournament

Navasota knocked off Mexia, 51-50, and Carthage, 53-46 to begin tournament play Thursday, Nov. 17.

 

Junior guard Bryanna Stokes led the Lady Rattler scoring in both games notching 21 points and five steals against Mexia and 19 points versus Carthage. 

 

Nala Richardson scored 14 points and had five steals against Mexia. Kylie Walter-Steptoe grabbed seven rebounds versus Carthage.

 

On Friday, Navasota defeated Nacogdoches, 41-38 and Buffalo, 46-5.

 

Richardson topped the Lady Rattler scoring with 11 points against Nacogdoches. Stokes followed with 10 points and six rebounds. Jalyn Williams grabbed eight rebounds.

 

Stokes led the way against Buffalo with 10 points and five assists. Daviah Byrd pulled down nine rebounds.

 

On championship Saturday, the Lady Rattlers defeated Coldspring, 54-20.

 

Williams and Tiara McCoy each had a big game leading the Lady Rattlers in scoring with 12 points each. Williams also grabbed seven rebounds. Byrd secured eight rebounds.

 

At Normangee 

The Lady Rattler varsity and junior varsity teams traveled to Normangee to face the Lady Panthers Tuesday, Nov. 15.

 

Freshman Rihanna Rush helped lead the Lady Rattlers to a 38-35 win scoring 16 points and three steals. Stokes had six points and six assists.

 

JV defeated the Lady Panthers, 43-11.

 

Rattlers sweep Waller

For the second time this season, all three Lady Rattler teams swept the Waller Lady Bulldogs.

 

On Monday, Nov. 21, varsity picked up a 52-20 win led by Rush with 16 points. Stokes had nine rebounds and six assists while Williams grabbed eight boards.

 

The JV team improve to 5-2 on the season with a 34-20 win over Waller. Navasota’s Freshman remain undefeated (6-0) with a 52-22 win.

 

Navasota varsity traveled to Austin Tuesday, Nov. 22, to battle Northeast Early College (results were not available at press time).
