Lady Rattlers start week undefeated

The Navasota Lady Rattlers began their basketball season with huge wins over higher classification teams, 6A Aldine Davis and 5A Brenham.

 

On Tuesday, Nov. 8, the Lady Rattlers defeated Aldine Davis 47-28. Bryanna Stokes led Navasota with 16 points and 5 assists. Jalyn Williams grabbed 13 rebounds. 

 

The Lady Rattler JV and freshman teams completed the sweep. Navasota JV won 32-25 and the freshman secured a 41-23 win.

 

Vs Brenham

Navasota played until the final buzzer to secure a 46-43 win over rival Brenham. Lady Rattler guards, Nala Richardson each had huge games against the Cubettes. Richardson scored 17 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Stokes scored 14. Kylie Steptoe helped Navasota with eight rebounds.

 

Lady Rattler Freshman/JV Classic

Navasota hosted the Lady Rattler Freshman/JV Classic Nov. 10-12. The Lady Rattler freshman finished 4-0 for the tournament championship. They picked up wins over Anderson-Shiro, 50-26; Waller, 38-13; Brenham, 32-15 and Montgomery, 37-29.

 

Anderson-Shiro finished second (3-1) and Montgomery placed third (2-2).

 

Navasota’s JV team finished with a 2-2 record securing third place. They picked up wins against Yoakum, 39-14 and Waller, 57-19. They lost a close one to Brenham, 49-46 and Montgomery, 37-27. 

 

Montgomery placed first (4-0) and Brenham finished second (2-2).

 

The JV and varsity girls played at Normangee Tuesday, Nov. 15 (results were not available at press time). Navasota competes at the Crockett Lady Bulldog Tournament Nov. 17-19. All three teams host Waller Friday, Nov. 18.
