Lady Rattlers win host tournament

The undefeated season continues for the ninth ranked Navasota Lady Rattlers, who are fresh off a sweep at the Navasota Lady Rattler Shoot Out.

Navasota (17-0) won their own tournament with five of their six wins against 6A and 5A teams. Bryanna Stokes reached a milestone in Friday morning action against Dayton. The junior guard has scored over 1,000 career points. She led the Lady Rattlers in the tournament with 73 points and 31 assists.

Other key performers for the Lady Rattlers included Nala Richardson, 71 points and 10 steals; Daviah Byrd, 35 rebounds; and Jalyn Williams, 35 rebounds.

On Thursday, Dec. 1, Navasota picked up wins over Waller, 65-22; and Cleveland, 58-30. The Lady Rattlers defeated Dayton 52-18, and Aldine Davis 48-29, on Friday, Dec. 2. On championship Saturday, Navasota defeated Lumberton 51-41 and La Porte 37-31.

Navasota at Giddings

It was a clean sweep on the road as all three Lady Rattler teams defeated the Giddings Lady Buffaloes Tuesday, Nov. 29.

The varsity girls outscored Giddings 62-26. Rihanna Rush land Nala Richardson led the way with 12 points and six steals each. Jalyn Williams grabbed nine rebounds.

The junior varsity girls improved to 6-2 on the season with a 40-28 win. They will compete in the Anderson- Shiro JV tournament Dec. 8-10. (See tournament schedule on page 11). Navasota’s freshman girls remain perfect with a 7-0 record. They defeated the Lady Buffs 40-26.

Navasota varsity plays at Hearne Friday, Dec. 9, beginning at 5:30 p.m. All three teams are in action Tuesday, Dec. 13, hosting Needville for the District 25-4A opener. Games tipoff at 5 p.m.
