A trio of Navasota Lady Rattler softball players have been named to the 4A All-State Honorable Mention softball team. Sophomore pitcher Emily Ripkoski, junior third baseman Desiree Calderon and freshman catcher Mia Nunez each garnered individual success with career years.
Ripkoski led the Lady Rattlers in the circle with a 15-9 record and eclipsed the century mark in strikeouts this season with 110 on the year, a feat that had never been accomplished by a Lady Rattler previously. Ripkoski batted for a .384 average including two homeruns, four triples, two doubles and drove in a team best 25 RBI’s.
Nunez hit for an astounding .532 average with a .609 on base percentage and .844 slugging percentage. Nunez belted six homeruns and swiped 26 bases.
Calderon batted for a .438 average and reached base 50% of the time. She drove in 20 RBI’s and connected for five doubles. Calderon also stole 24 bases.
All three Lady Rattlers will return to play in 2020.
