Evergreen Baptist honors seniors
Around 82 people or families received food from the Iola Food Pantry at Iola Missionary Baptist Church Fellowship Hall Saturday, May 20. There were all sorts of food available – canned goods, meat, baked goods, milk, eggs and vegetables. The pantry is open the third Saturday each month for those in need of a helping hand.
Evergreen Baptist Church honored three seniors that will be graduating from Iola High School. They are Gabriel Landon, Carri Mosher and Brandon Perez. We are certainly glad to have them. There was also a taco stack up luncheon and silent auction fundraiser at the close of the morning worship service. There were a good number of people present and a good amount of money was raised for the younger children to go to church camp this summer. Thanks to all that attended and helped in any way.
Congratulations to Rhys Anthony Williamson, son of Stephen and Mollie Williamson who was born Thursday, May 11. God bless him and all of his family members.
A large number of area residents attended the funeral of RichardA. Dudley on May 25, at Central Baptist Church. Dudley, who died at age 86, was born to John Texas and Zula May Campbell Dudley March 23, 1937. He married June Sanders and they had a long and happy life together. They had three children. Visitation was held at Calloway Jones Funeral Home May 25. He is survived by his last living sister, Judy Lambright. Do remember his wife and other family and friends in your prayers.
The monthly meeting of the Iola North Zulch Order of the Eastern Star No 458 was held at the Pyramid Masonic Lodge in North Zulch Monday, May 22, with a large number in attendance. The covered dish meal was enjoyed by all. During the meeting there were two members present,Alice Woods and Julie Simmons, who hadn’t been present in some time. Julie was recognized for being a member for 50 years. She was given a lapel pin from the Eastern Star and a certificate. It was announced that Kay Bryant, a previous member, passed away March 1, 2021. We were sorry to learn of her death.
A tombstone was recently placed in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Carlos for Eugene Bushman. He was born March 14, 1924 and died May 16, 2022. A tombstone was also placed for May Kolbachinski Bushman who was born June 1, 1926 and died Dec. 30, 2022. May their memories be blessed.
