Well folks here we are at the end of the first month of 2020. Just 11 more months to go.
Upcoming events for the month are the monthly meeting of the two Masonic lodges. This first is the meeting of the Orphans Friend Masonic Lodge No 17 which will be Monday, Feb. 3. The meeting will begin in their Anderson lodge hall at 6 p.m. with a covered dish meal followed by their business meeting.
The second meeting will be Tuesday, Feb. 4. The meeting will begin with a covered dish meal at 6:30 p.m. followed by their monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m. All Masons are invited to attend. Hope to see you there.
All are invited to attend the annual fish fry sponsored by Evergreen Baptist Church Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Iola Volunteer Fire Department. The fish will be ready by 5 p.m. There will also be a silent auction with a variety of baked goods and other items. The money raised will help send the Evergreen children to church camp this summer. The fish is always good and there are many great things to bid on. Make sure to mark your calendars and attend.
The monthly meeting of the Pyramid Masonic Lodge No 593 was held in North Zulch Tuesday, Jan. 21, with a good number in attendance. The covered dish meal (especially the hot buttered biscuits) was enjoyed by all. The lodge meeting followed, and a lot of business was taken care of. Everyone who attended had a wonderful time.
Area residents had a damp cold day Wednesday, Jan. 21, but the rain was certainly needed. I received an inch of rain that day and so far that makes 2.5 inches this year. Just keep praying for more because we certainly need it to make up for last year where we only had 44 inches. In 2018 we had around 57-inches so keep praying for more.
