Grimes County 4-H Camp July 8

Temperatures are starting to heat up. Don’t forget to check on your neighbors, family and friends.

Grimes County 4-H is having a one-day camp July 8, at the Grimes County Extension office, 205 Veterans Memorial Drive in Navasota from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. Camp is for ages 5-18 and is $10 per child. Lunch will be provided. Register by July 3. For more information contact the Grimes County Extension office, 936-873-3907.

The City of Navasota and Navasota Police Department are seeking volunteers to assist during a renovation day at the shelter July 22, at 8 a.m.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Brazos Valley are hosting “Why Mentor” June 22, from 6:30-9 p.m. at Yesterday’s Bar & Grill. The first 20 people to arrive and provide an email will receive a complimentary drink. The organization is in need of Big Brothers and Big Sisters. This event allows the community to discover the impact that the mentors have on youth of the Brazos Valley.

A new and small landowner series will be held June 28, from 6-7:30 p.m. at Grimes County Fairgrounds. For more information call, 936873-3907.

Grimes County Youth Football Association will have a football/cheer camp for ages 4-12 Saturday, June 24 at Brule Stadium, 1 Stadium Drive and Brule Rock Gym, 203 Brosig Ave, in Navasota from 9 a.m. to noon. For more information email gcyfaleague@gmail.com.

Navasota Freedom Festival Fourth of July Festival in Navasota is Friday, June 30. There will be live music by the Texas Unlimited Band, 7 p.m. at city hall. For more information visit https:// www.navasotatx.gov/home/ events/9911.

A Freedom Picnic in downtown Anderson will be held Saturday, July 1, at 6 p.m.

I’ll be traveling to Kentucky for Juneteenth. I’ll be attending a Christian Education Conference and I ‘ll do some sightseeing.
