Congratulations to Ray and Katelynn Smith of San Marcos who became firsttime parents Thursday, June 22, with the arrival of their new son, Beckham Alexander Smith. Beckham was born 4:31 p.m. at Resolute Baptist Hospital in New Braunfels and weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces and measured 21-1/4 inches. Experiencing the joys of being first-time grandparents are Ray’s parents Kevin and Martha Smith of Carlos. Beckham is also the first grandchild of Katelynn’s parents Greg and Kristy Clanton of Wimberley.

Saturday evening Don and I joined relatives at the Old Oak Taphouse on Hwy. 105 between Plantersville and Dobbin to have dinner and listen and dance to the music of Bill Mock and Karl Waitz. We got a nice surprise when Bill’s mother, 88-year-old Mary Grace Mock of Plantersville, got up and sang a song. She’s an amazing woman that I am proud to know. Bill and Karl played for the first time at Kenney Store Friday night. They loved it. Kenney Store is owned and operated by Tony and Rita Krueger, the son and daughter-in-law of Randy Krueger of Plantersville. Ahhh, good times.
