The Fanthorp Inn State Historic Park will celebrate their 35th Anniversary of engaging and educating our community Saturday, Oct. 1 from 3-7 p.m. This site opened its doors to the public on Oct. 4, 1987 at 579 S. Main St. in Anderson. The public, along with any current and former Fanthorp Inn staff and volunteers, are invited to enjoy refreshments as they cherish fond memories of the past and cover new developments for the future of Fanthorp. For more information, contact Renee Fredwood, 936-873-- 5005. It’s pecan time again. 4-H Clubs are gearing up for the 2022-2023 year starting out with the sale of those delicious pecans. Our grandson Luke Waitz is excited to start 4-H this year and will be gracious to take your order. Pecans will be in before the Thanksgiving holidays just in time to make those scrumptious pecan pies. Once you start using 4-H pecans you will never, and I mean never, go back to buying them off the shelf at a grocery store. I just had cataracts removed off both of my eyes and am thrilled it’s over and I can read anything, near and far, without glasses. Best thing I did – it’s really nice that I am not looking everywhere for my glasses all the time. I have them stashed everywhere and in every room. I will be donating them all to the Lions Club or somewhere that collects them. I haven’t put a pair on since Sept. 13. Woo-hoo!
