loia Food Pantry open Aug. 20
Two people were baptized at Evergreen Baptist Church by Rev. Jeff Morgan, Sunday, Aug. 7. Aubrey Williams and Alexis Reeves were baptized. They both attended summer camp at Camp Pineywoods. Pray for them as they begin this new phase in life. Several area residents returned from an overseas trip including various countries. From all accounts, they had a wonderful time.
We have a new resident in the Keith Community. Willow Marie Vaughn, the daughter of Brendon and Alyssa Vaughn, was born Tuesday, Aug. 2. Proud grandpa is John Vaughn and great grandparents are Davis and Debbie R. Vaughn. Congratulation to the family of the newborn.
Evergreen Baptist Church is having a Back to School Birthday Bash Wednesday, Aug. 24, from 6:30 - 8 p.m. This will be fun for the entire family with Taco Boss Food Truck, Kona Ice Snow Cones and plenty of fun activities scheduled for all ages. Some of the items are free while others may be purchased. Come out and enjoy the fun!
Iola Food Pantry is open Saturday, Aug. 20, at the Iola Missionary Baptist Church Fellowship Hall from 9-11 a.m. Anyone needing a helping hand are invited. Volunteers are needed to assist with set-up at noon the day before.
The Iola North Zulch Order of the Eastern Star No. 651 will meet Monday, Aug. 22. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. with a covered dish meal, followed by the business meeting. All members are invited to attend.
Some of us have received rain during the week. It rained Friday at my house for approximately 20 minutes. It cooled things down but there was little rain in the gauge. Keep praying for more.
Area residents were sorry to learn of the recent passing of Donna Kotts Hejney. She is connected with Kotts Café in Anderson. Her funeral was held at the Baptist Church in Shiro on Saturday, Aug. 13. Do remember her loved ones in your prayers.
