Navasota Youth Soccer registration ends Aug. 31

The National Weather Service issued a fire weather watch for Grimes County on Aug. 18. Please check on your elderly, sick and shut in. This has been a hot summer.

Navasota Soccer League registration deadline is Aug. 31. Forms can be picked up at Creative Minds Daycare or Navasota Nutrition. Volunteers are needed for coaches, assistant coaches, team parents and concessions.

Sponsorships are needed for Navasota Soccer League. Sponsorship deadline is Sept. 15. Sponsorships may be completed online, www.navasotasoccerleague. com. This is a great chance to sponsor your child’s team, advertise your business or just support the children in the community.

Grimes County is hosting a CERT Training Class. The class begins Sept. 1. The Community Emergency Response Team or CERT class is 8 weeks, each Tuesday evening from 6-9 p.m. at the American Legion Hall building, 415 Hill Street, in Anderson. Todd Mission Volunteer Fire Department, 21718 FM1774, in Plantersville is hosting a BBQ Fundraiser Aug. 26, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Plates are $15 and tickets for a whole brisket is $100. Pre-order briskets before Aug. 16.

Macedonia Baptist Church invites Grimes County to a three-day revival featuring a minister raised and trained locally at Macedonia. The revival is Sept. 13-15 featuring Pastor Earnest Powell of Zion Fair Missionary Baptist Church in La Vernia. Services begin at 7 p.m.

The church will also sell fish dinners Friday, Sept. 15, in the old Pizza Hut parking lot, 501 S. LaSalle Street in Navasota from 10:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. Dinners will include dessert and a drink for $15.
