Thankful for rain, praying for more
Do hope that everyone enjoyed the good rain that we had last week. I had 3.5 inches over two days. I understand some people received even more. Keep on praying for more. It had been about two months since our last rain of any kind. I received word the barn of Jack and Elaine Sullins on CR 166 was destroyed by a tornado Thursday, Aug. 18. I am sorry for them, but at least it wasn’t their home.
Tony Compian Jr. and Amy Salvato were married Aug. 10. I wish them well. They both have children from other marriages. God bless them both. During service at Evergreen Baptist Church Sunday, Aug. 21, Jaxtyn Morgan was dedicated to the Lord by his parents, Justin and Alexis Morgan. The churches pastor, Rev. Jeff Morgan, who is also the child’s grandfather, performed the dedication. May God bless them all.
There was a good turnout at the Iola Food Pantry at Iola Missionary Baptist Church Saturday, Aug. 20. A total of 63 people or families received a variety of goods. There was a variety of canned goods, lots of bread, desserts and more. The pantry is open the third Saturday each month from 9-11:30 a.m. for anyone needing a helping hand. Various members of the church and other workers assisted during the two days involved in preparation and distribution.
Orphans Friend Masonic Lodge No 17 in Anderson will have their monthly meeting Monday, Sept. 5. The meeting will begin with a meal at 6 p.m. followed by the lodge meeting. Bedias Masonic Lodge will meet Tuesday, Sept. 6, with a meal beginning at 6:30 p.m. The lodge meeting will follow. All Masons are invited to attend.
The monthly meeting of the Iola North Zulch No 458 Order of the Eastern Star was held at Pyramid Masonic Lodge in North Zulch Monday, Aug. 22. There was a good number of members and visitors in attendance. The covered dish meal was enjoyed by all. A special celebration was held for the birthday of Robert Morris. He is the founder of the Eastern Star. All of the other birthdays were celebrated as well. During the meeting a variety of other business was taken care of as well.
