The weather has been really hot recently. Please check on the elderly, your family, friends and neighbors. Remember Grimes County remains in a burn ban.

Grimes County Back to School Health Fair and Supply Drive will be held at Grimes County Fairgrounds, 5220 FM3455 Rd in Navasota Aug. 9, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Pre-register before the July 27 deadline at ticketleap. com. Texas Department of Criminal Justice Agribusiness, Land and Minerals Horse Sale has been rescheduled for Sept. 3, at the Brazos County Expo Complex in Bryan, beginning at 10 a.m. Horses with the coveted TDCJ star brand will be displayed and can be previewed Friday, Sept. 2 from 5-7 p.m.

Macedonia Baptist Church, 6957 County Road 206, Plantersville, in the BlackBerry Community is finally being rebuilt. We are almost at the finish line. On June 29, Dobbin Plantersville Water Company implemented a mandatory water restriction. Residents with even addresses are allowed to water Monday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. only while odd addresses are permitted to water lawns Tuesday and Thursday during the same hours. Due to the lack of ticket sales, the Plantersville Stoneham VFD voted to postpone the gun raffle until the Aug. 8, board meeting. The raffle includes a true to Henry’s 1860 patterns and patents Lever Toggle Link Action .45 Colt centerfire rounds and a reproduction of Colt SAA Model Peacemaker in .45 Long Colt. The winner will receive both guns and two boxes of .45 Long Colt Ammo. Anyone interested in purchasing tickets can contact BOD President Deen Miller, 936-524-1700.
