Whitehall News

Calling for goblins, avengers, princesses, ballplayers and any other Halloween kiddo in the community to come and join the firefighters at the Whitehall Community VFD Oct. 31 at 6 p.m. Please feel free to bring your parents.

Reminder that the dump in Whitehall will be open Saturdays, 8 a.m. till 4 p.m. and on Wednesdays, 7 a.m. till 3 p.m.

If you purchased nuts from the Courtney-Whitehall 4-H, they should be here the first part of November. This group will have a fundraiser Nov. 9 to include a bake sale at the Whitehall Store and a spaghetti lunch at the Community Center at the same time. Presale tickets will be available by calling a 4H member or stopping by the Whitehall Store. I should have a price after their monthly meeting.

The WHCVFD had their monthly business meeting for October with 18 members present. Chief Vickers discussed some of the high points of the new contract system for the county. The group is now including the Texas Flag Pledge to their meeting following a prayer by President Serres and Pledge of Allegiance. Our annual fund-raiser is Oct. 20. We invite you to come enjoy a full plate of that wonderful barbecue and all the fixins. Don’t forget to bring a few dollars for the bucket raffles and you might be interested in the live auction. Hope to see you there.

The VFD is always willing to accept new members. Considering that disasters happen, extra hands would be beneficial to not only our community but also to those surrounding areas. Training for firefighters is available. If you are interested, meet at the station Monday evening and get more information.

The raffle items are looking good for the Veteran’s Day celebration Nov. 9. Janis Frenzel has been working diligently to encourage participation throughout the county. With that said, this is my sincere thank you to all who have helped to support our veterans and to Janis for her work. If you are a member of the Auxiliary and would consider helping, please call me.

Thank you, Sterling Auto for your continued patriotism. The Auxiliary appreciates all those US and Texas flags that are flying, even in the highest winds we have on some days.

I’m excited for the Yeguas. They beat the Snook Bluejays 20-12. Go big orange!

Our sick and homebound friends include Billie Wittenbach, Sue Kolojaco, Lawrence Lieder, Dorothy Mahaffey, Charles Waters, Mary Bauer, Albin Finke, Rosa Finke, Lois Bell, Rickey Binford, Leon Gorney, Doug Taylor, Garry Wise, Kathy Cave Wells, Glenn Binder, Pauline Kaspar and Alexander Hanna, grandson of Curtis and Darla Kolojaco. Please add these friends to your prayer list.
