Grimes County Crime Stoppers will once again honor the individuals who protect and serve the citizens and businesses of Grimes County. Their annual catered awards dinner is Saturday, Jan. 28 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1962 SH 90 in Anderson. Dinner is free for officers and their families and by donation for the general public. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Featured speaker will be State Representative Kyle Kacal, a huge supporter of law enforcement.

Last year, thanks to many of our local businesses and individual donors, 34 of Grimes County’s finest left the 2022 awards dinner with a “thank you” from the community they serve in the form of door prizes. Please consider donating an item or gift certificate for the law enforcement door prize drawings, and/or an item for the live auction fundraiser and/or a cash donation to help defray event expenses. Grimes County Crime Stoppers is a 501(c)(3) organization. To make your donation pledge and schedule pickup, call Marilyn Bettes, 817-7299096 or Debbie Grimes, 936--870-7353.

Forrest Fisher and Whitley Whitewood were married in a ceremony at First United Methodist Church in Kerrville Saturday, Jan. 14. A dinner and dance reception followed at the Y.O. Ranch Hotel & Conference Center in Kerrville. Forrest is the son of Kent and Punkin Fisher of Anderson and Todd and Donna Arthur of Navasota. Whitley is the daughter of Todd and Serina Whitewood of Rock Springs. These sweet newlyweds will reside in Anderson.

Some years back Don’s aunt and uncle, Harry and Flo Brennen, resided on Hill St. in Anderson. While here, they enjoyed volunteering at Fanthorp Inn for many years. Aunt Flo was a longtime librarian and also enjoyed volunteering at the Navasota Library. They moved to Waxahachie a few years ago to be closer to their son and family. Uncle Harry called Wednesday morning, Jan. 11 to let us know that Aunt Flo, age 95, passed away. Our family was saddened by the news as this couple was a very special part of all our lives. In June 2022 we went to visit them to celebrate their 75th wedding anniversary. That was the last time we saw her. God bless them and may Uncle Harry have the strength to move forward without the love of his life.
