I’m a stuffed turkey that’s for sure. We celebrated Thanksgiving three times this week once at the Sheriff’s Office, on Thanksgiving Day in Dobbin at my Uncle Darrell Herzog’s house, then at our home Saturday for the Sowell family. Now it’s time to prepare for Christmas.

Saturday, Dec. 2, will be a busy day in our town with several holiday events scheduled. Start the day with Breakfast with Santa from 8:30-11 a.m. at Anderson Methodist Church, 256 S. Main St. The morning includes a pancake breakfast for $5 per plate, picture with Santa and craft activities. For more information call, 936-870-6475.

The 6th annual Anderson Holiday Fest is also Dec. 2, on Main St. in Anderson from 1:30-10 p.m. Wade Hayes will headline the event along with Rick Trevino, Julie Roberts, Jason Cassidy, Payton Howie, Payton Riley and our very own Hannah Abraham. For tickets and more information go to www.andersonfest.com. You may also purchase your tickets at the gate the day of the event.

Anderson VFD’s 2nd annual Christmas Parade is Sunday, Dec. 3, beginning at 6 p.m. Entries will line up at the Justice Center at 5 p.m. Co-hosting the event are Fifty-Seven Bloom Co., Anderson Auto and Marcy’s Razzle Dazzle. Visits with Santa and parade awards will take place after the parade in front of the courthouse. Award categories include best antique tractor, best ATV/side-by-side, best antique car, best mounted group, best organization float, best business float and best individual float. To participate, call Samantha, 936-870-6438, Marcy, 936-661-6662, or email andersonfire114@yahoo.com.

The annual KBTX Food for Families food drive is Wednesday, Dec. 6. Monetary donations or food items may be brought to the Midsouth Operations Facility in Navasota from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m. with 100% of your donations staying in our county. You may also make online donations at kbtx.com. If you are bringing food please collect the following items: canned or dried beans, canned meats, vegetables, fruit, soups and pasta, cereal and cereal bars, coffee, dried pasta, rice, peanut butter, children’s diapers, paper towels and toilet paper. If you have any questions or would like to volunteer that day, send an email to communications@mselectric. com.
