Iola Hay Day Saturday, Oct. 9

Evergreen Baptist Church held a back to church special service Sunday, Sept. 19. The morning began with special guest David Crain leading worship. He led a variety of songs, most of which were new to us. He then brought an inspiring message. Following the service lunch was served in the fellowship hall. There were a good number of members and visitors present and they all were blessed being around each other.

There was a good number of people present for the funeral of Nelda Dian Isbell held at Iola Missionary Baptist Church Saturday, Sept. 18. A meal was served to all family members and friends prior to the service. The service was officiated by the churches pastor, Tim Owens. Burial followed in Concord Cemetery near Iola. Isbell was born July 17, 1958, the daughter of Arvol Beason and Betty Lois Burk Isbell. Survivors include her daughter Vanessa Neal and husband John, grandchildren Daniel and Ethan Neal and other family members. Do remember all of them in your prayers.

The annual Iola Hay Day Celebration will be held Saturday, Oct. 9, beginning at 9:30 a.m. All sorts of events are planned. Evergreen Baptist Church will serve Chickfil-A sandwiches and sweet tea. They will also sell mums. Come out and fellowship with your friends and neighbors. Hope to see you there.

Orphans Friend Masonic Lodge No 17 will have their meeting Monday, Oct. 4, at their lodge hall in Anderson. The meal will begin at 6 p.m. followed by the meeting.

Bedias Masonic Lodge No 651 has their meeting Tuesday, Oct. 5, beginning with a meal at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will follow. All Masons are invited to attend.

The funeral service for Ruth Annette Lang Thomas held at Iola Missionary Baptist Church Tuesday, Sept. 21, was certainly well attended. Officiating were the churches pastor, Tim Owens, and Floyd Hoke. Thomas was born Sept. 13, 1935 and died Sept. 18. She was the daughter of John Lewis and Myrtle Hicks Lang. She was married to Arthur Blake Buster Thomas who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her parents and other family members. She was buried in the Willowhole Cemetery in North Zulch. Do remember her family in your prayers. Following the burial family and friends were served lunch in the church fellowship hall.

The monthly meeting of the Pyramid Masonic Lodge was held in North Zulch Tuesday, Sept. 21, beginning with a meal. During the meeting 29A District Deputy Grand Master, Michael Wayne Simpson, of Bryan, made his official visit.

Do hope your special day was a happy one.
