Low attendance at civic club meeting
The monthly meeting of Keith Civic club was held Thursday, Feb. 24, at Keith Community Center with a small number attending. Several missed for various reasons. All present enjoyed a time of fellowship over the covered dish meal. There was a variety of business discussed and acted upon. Hopefully the weather will be better next month. Make plans to attend.
Area residents were sorry to learn of the death of Tommy A. Parker Sr., who passed away Feb. 23. His funeral service was held at Madisonville Funeral Home Sunday, Feb. 27. He was buried at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Carlos. Parker was born Apr. 14, 1936 in Palacios. He is preceded in death by his father George Parker. Survivors include his wife, Sue Churchwell Parker, sons Tommy Parker Jr., and Robert Parker, daughters Martha Parrack and Teri Couteau and several grandchildren and other family members. Do remember all of them in your prayers. Bro. John Sirman was in charge of the service.
The monthly meeting of the Iola North Zulch Order of the Eastern Star No 458 was held Monday, Feb. 28, at the Pyramid Masonic Lodge, with a good number attending. A covered dish meal was enjoyed by all. There was a variety of business discussed during the meeting.
Texas Independence Day was Wednesday, March 2. Do hope it was a special day for everyone. Grimes County dumpsites were closed in observance of the holiday but have resumed normal hours.
