Masonic lodges elect officers
Iola Food Pantry will be open Saturday, June 18, at Iola Missionary Baptist Church Fellowship Hall from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. Anyone in need of a helping hand are invited to come out and receive assistance. You never know what all will be available. Also, the day before, around noon, the pantry will be open to prepare for distribution. Come out and assist either or both days. God will bless you for your efforts.
The Orphans Friend Masonic Lodge No 17 held their monthly meeting at their lodge hall in Anderson Monday, June 6, with a good number of members and visitors present. There was a pizza meal enjoyed by all present. Officers were elected for the upcoming Masonic year. Those names will be announced soon.
The monthly meeting of Bedias Masonic Lodge No 651 was held at their lodge hall Tuesday, June 7, with a good number of members present. There were no visitors present which was unusual. During the meeting James Bracewell was presented with a certificate which showed he is a district instructor. Election of officers was held. Elected officers will be released soon, and the installation of officers will take place at the lodge Saturday, July 23, at 10 a.m.
Area friends of Dana Sowell were sorry to learn of his death on Sunday, June 5. He was born Nov. 28, 1958, to John L. and Joann Brennen Sowell who preceded him in death in 2020 and by his daughter Krysten Sowell in 2021. He was the brother of Grimes County Sheriff Don Sowell who survives him. He is also survived by two sons, Jason and Justin Sowell. His funeral was held at Nobles Funeral Home Wednesday, June 8. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery where his parents and daughter are buried. Do remember his loved ones in your prayers.
