Winner number six of the 2nd Annual St. Joseph’s Catholic Church 52-week gun raffle was drawn Sunday, Oct.3. The winner of a Ruger SR22, LR is Steve Noel. The next drawing will take place Sunday, Oct. 10.

The Grimes County Mobile Food Bank will be open Thursday, Oct. 14 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the Grimes County Expo Center in Navasota. Any resident of Grimes County in need of food will be served and will only need to show their drivers’ license when they complete the once a year Client Assistant Intake Form. The 67th Annual St. Stanislaus Homecoming and Bazaar will take place on the parish grounds in Anderson Sunday, Oct. 10. The day will begin with a Mass at 10 a.m. After Mass, the bazaar will open at 11 a.m. with the serving of a barbecue and sausage dinner with all the trimmings at 11 a.m. This year the famous St. Stanislaus coleslaw made by the women of the parish and was at all the bazaars from 1979 through 2007 will be brought back to the dinner line by the Borski family and volunteers. Cost per plate will be $12. Events include booths and games for all ages as well as the St. Stan and Domino Shuffle. Tommy Szymczak will once again head up the live auction beginning at 1 p.m. Brian Marshall and the Texas Paradise Band will provide live Polish music for dancing and entertainment from 1-5 p.m. The raffle consisting of 8 prizes will be drawn at 5 p.m. You will be able to purchase lots of handmade and homemade items at Babusha’s Porch. And don’t forget, the beautiful and historic church completed in 1917 will also be open for visitors to view. For more info call the parish office, 936-873-2291 or visit www. saintstans.org.

The Anderson-Shiro Education Foundation will hold their annual Steak Dinner and Auction fundraiser Oct. 16 at 6 p.m. at the St. Stanislaus Parish Hall, 1511 TX Hwy. 90 in Anderson. Tickets are $60 per person or a table of six for $400. At this writing, the Foundation has awarded $170,890 in grants benefitting students and educators at Anderson-Shiro schools. Anderson will be hosting their annual Trunk or Treat on Main St. Oct. 30 from 6-8 p.m. So, get those costumes in the works. It will be here before you know it.

We are so proud of our little kindergartener grandson Colton Waitz, son of Dave and Brandi Waitz. On Friday, Colton was named Owl of the Month. He was nominated by his PE Coach Bridget Coronado. Keep up the good work Colton!

Pat (Katkoski) Maciejewski turned 80 years old on Sept. 30. Her four sons and their families threw a birthday party for her at the DeepRoots Vineyard on the Earl Fuchs property off FM 1774 Saturday, Oct. 2. Family and co-workers enjoyed a barbecue dinner, wine and music for listening as well as fun and fellowship.
