Hope everyone had a safe, wonderful and relaxing Memorial Day weekend - something we all needed. Summer vacations are now in progress. Our family will soon be going to Corpus Christi for the annual “Hoffart” family vacation. Counting the little and big ones too, if nothing happens there will be 32 of us in attendance. Can’t wait!
Winner number 40 of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church 52-week gun raffle was drawn Sunday, May 30. The winner of a Bond Arms Roughneck, 45 ACP is Leon Vasek of Navasota. The next drawing will take place Sunday, June 6.
Position 3 of the ASCISD Board of Trustees is currently vacant and the board is seeking candidates interested in filling that position. Any current resident within the boundaries of the District is welcome to apply for consideration to be appointed to the current open Place 3. Informational packets are available for pickup from the Superintendent’s office. The district is hosting a public informational meeting Monday, June 14, at 6 p.m. in the ASCISD Board Room for all interested applicants. The Grimes County Fair is just around the corner, June 2-12. To find out the schedule of the fair, go to www.grimescountyfair. com to view the schedule of events. The Premium Auction will take place in the expo center Thursday, June 10 at 6:30 p.m. The freezer sale will be Friday, June 11 beginning at 6:30 p.m. There will be two dances: Saturday, June 5 featuring Aaron Watson with special guest Doc West. Tickets are available online at http://www.outhousetickets.com/Event/m17077-Grimes_County_Fair_with_Aaro.... General admission tickets are $20 in advance and Limited VIP tickets are $100. On Saturday, June 12, dancing music will be provided by Jason James. Admission is $10 at the door.
