Foster children from Grimes County will sleep a little warmer thanks to the Charm and Sewing 4-H Chapter of Grimes County Extension Service. Dozens of fringe blankets, made by children from 1118, were donated to the Grimes County Child Welfare Board Rainbow Room Nov. 22.

The Charm and Sewing Chapter consists of children ages 9-17. The 4-H group is led by Ann Mitchell, who has been part of the program for many years. Her love for children and teaching the fine art of sewing reflects in her joy. Grimes County Extension Agent for Family and Community Health, Andrea Ryan, County Extension Agent is also partnered with overseeing the project.

The Rainbow Room is sponsored by The Child Welfare Board of Grimes County. It is utilized by CPS caseworkers when it becomes necessary to remove children because of exigent circumstances. The room is offered by St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Navasota and is stocked with diapers, formula, clothing, toys, shoes, hygiene items, books, pillows and blankets.

Anyone wishing to make a donation of new items only may contact the organization by emailing, GCCWB@grimescountytexas.gov.
