Dec. 1

• The ushers/greeters of Friendship MBC will sponsor a soul food dinner December, 1, immediately following morning worship. The menu will consist of oxtails, turkey necks, meatloaf, greens, peas, potatoes, cornbread, dessert and a drink. Donations of $10 & $12 for combination plates. • First Baptist Church Richards invites the community to their Annual Family & Friends Day Sunday, Dec. 1, 2:30 p.m. Pastor L.L. Dunbar. Guest speaker rev. Franklin Higgins, accompanied by Mt. Mariah Baptist Church.

Dec. 7

• Yarborough Chapel UMC, 7659 FM 2819, Anderson, invites the community to their Annual Unity Conference Saturday, Dec. 7, 9:30 a.m. Speakers include rev. Robert Bailey and Evangelist Claudia Durant from Houston, along with host pastor Hopie Solomon. Food and prizes are provided.

Dec. 8

• Yarborough Chapel UMC, 7650 FM 2819, Anderson, invites the community to their Musicians Appreciation Day Sunday, Dec. 8, 11 a.m. Speaker to be announced.

• St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church in Shiro invites the community to their Annual Women in Red Celebration Sunday, Dec. 8, 2:30 pm. Guest speaker will be rev. Michael Crooks from New Growth Full Gospel Church of Huntsville. Host pastor is rev. Andrew C. Sanders.

• The Pastor and Church Family of St. Mark Baptist Church in Shiro, invite you to their annual “Women in Red” Service. The service will start December 8, 2:30 p.m. This year’s theme is “It’s Always About the Cross” with a celebratory focus on a son, a CROSS, a savior. Our guests include rev. Michael Crooks, Evangelist Lynda Porch, and the Gospel Christianets of Brenham, Texas.

• Join Coaxberry in their Annual Choir Day Sunday, December 8, 2:30 p.m. Guest speaker rev. Marvin Cooper of Bryan will deliver the message. Rev. Charles D. Byrd is the host pastor. Dinner will be served after the program.

• The Friendship UMC under the leadership of pastor Eric J. Williams, Sr. invites you to join them in celebrating their Annual Usher/ Greeter Program on December 8, 3:30 p.m. Guest speaker rev. Ronald Hackett of Mt. Pleasant MBC of Navasota.

Dec. 13

• Friedens Church of Washington UCC, 20301 FM 1155 East, Washington, will sponsor “Darkness Turns to Day” A Musical Exploration Friday, Dec. 14, 6 – 7 p.m. Pianist, Susan Russell and special guest on Soprano, Rebecca Mersinger. Reception to follow.

• You are cordially invited to “A Night with the King” an annual Christmas Banquet hosted by Navasota Progressive Center, 615 W. Virginia St., Navasota, Saturday, December 14, 5:30 pm. Special guest – minister Ervin Lee. Door prizes will be available.

Ongoing

• The Anderson Food Pantry has 2019 volunteer opportunities. Volunteers are needed from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of each month to unload food from the truck, move boxes, unpack boxes, stock shelves and prep bags.

• The food pantry is open to the public from 9 a.m. to noon and 5 to 7 p.m. the first Thursday of every month, except July due to a holiday. Volunteers are needed from 8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. and 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. to prep bags, stock shelves, check-in clients, carry out grocers, stock the Thread Shed, tear down boxes and clean-up. • Union Grove Baptist Church invites the public to visit one or more of the many services held each week. Sunday school for all ages begins at 9:45 a.m., church worship service begins at 10:50 a.m. and Sunday evening worship begins at 6 p.m. There is also a Wednesday prayer service at 6 p.m. and the third Sunday of each month is the men’s prayer breakfast at 8 a.m.

• Bays Chapel United Methodist Church, 24263 Bays Chapel Rd. in Richards, invites everyone to attend weekly services at 9 a.m. Sundays with visitation afterwards. A weekly Bible study is held at 7 p.m. Wednesdays. The Rev. Ben Tibbs is the pastor.
