Attention Grimes County, a countywide burn ban was reinstated at the Aug. 14 commissioners court.

High Point Elementary will have meet the teacher night Aug. 22 from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m.

The Richards W.E. Hall Alumni Association is having a musical fundraiser at Bethel Grove Baptist Church, 7479 FM 1774 in Anderson beginning at 7:30 p.m. Choirs, soloist and praise dancers are welcome.

There will be an alumni banquet Saturday, Aug. 24, at 1 p.m. at the community center in Anderson (formerly American Legion Hall), 415 Hill Street. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Brandi DeBose-Addison. There will be special recognition of nominees, former teachers and mass classes.

First Baptist Church, 5647 Trinity St. in Richards will have a guest speaker Sunday, Aug. 25, at 11 a.m. Rev. Jimmy Lawrence of Hills Chapel Baptist Church in Huntsville. Please come out and help support the Richards and W.E. Hall Alumni. Thanks in advance.

The Texas/Grimes County 4-H is a club for children in third through twelfth grade and offers programs for children in kindergarten through second grade. Registration for the 2019-2020 school year began Aug. 15.

The 4-H Club offers many programs that cater to all interests including but not limited to food, science, robotics, agriculture, livestock, photography, fashion design etc. The club is a great opportunity to make friends, learn new life skills and to be a better you. St. Mary Catholic Church in Plantersville will celebrate its 125th Homecoming Bazaar Sunday, Sept. 1, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The church is located at 8227 CR 205.

The Guardian Angels of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Plantersville is sponsoring a five-day, four-night trip to Biloxi and New Orleans Sept. 23 through 27. The price is $499 per person based on double occupancy. A deposit of $74 was due in May. Contact Nancy Schlottman, 936-597-8327.

Attention BlackBerry Community members the time has been changed for the homecoming celebration. Minister Taylor at the Point of Grace is allowing us to use their facilities for a homecoming celebration Sunday, Sept.

The Place of Grace on CR 313 in the Blackberry Community is hosting bible study Thursday nights at 7 p.m. instead of Friday mornings. Please come out and be a part of God’s work.
