Gospel singing held monthly

The gospel singing held Saturday, March 9, at the Carlos Missionary Baptist Church was certainly well attended. There were approximately 39 people in attendance and everyone had a wonderful time singing the gospel songs of long ago, as well as some new songs. The singing began at 6 p.m. and continued until 8 p.m. There were several specials as well. Following the service, there was a time of fellowship over a covered dish meal. All present had a wonderful time.
•Upcoming events in the community include the monthly meeting of the Keith Civic Club, which will meet Thursday, March 28, at the Keith Community Center. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a covered dish meal. The business meeting will follow the meal. All are invited to attend.
•The monthly meeting of the Iola-North Zulch Order of the Eastern Star will have their monthly meeting at the Pyramid Masonic Lodge No 593. The meeting will begin with a covered dish meal at 6:30 p.m. and will be followed at 7:30 p.m. by their business meeting. All members of the Eastern Star are welcome to attend.
•Several of the kids of Evergreen Free Will Baptist Church and adults spent a good part of the afternoon picking up trash along county roads in the community Sunday afternoon, March 10. They really made a big difference. This was following a trip to College Station for lunch.

•Happy anniversary this week to the following: the Rev. Steve and Vicky Phillips, married March 18; Jason and Kelli Lemmons Trant, married March 18; Travis and Selyna Nunez Duke, married March 21; and Rod and Cindy K. Borski Lavender, March 23. Do join with me in wishing them many more years of happiness together.
•There were no services Wednesday, March 13, at Evergreen Free Will Baptist Church due to spring break. Services will begin this week as normal.
