•There are two deaths and two funerals to report in this week’s column.

Anna Lou Crouch Thomas, widow of Cecil Thomas, passed away March 9 in Weatherford, Texas. She was born Jan. 13, 1920, in Grimes Switch, the daughter of Willice and Beaulah Crouch. She and her husband lived for many years in this community, then lived in Navasota. Her funeral was held at the Martins Prairie Missionary Baptist Church with Mitchell Beene officiating. Her burial was in the Martins Prairie Cemetery. She was buried beside her husband, who passed away in 1992. Do remember her children and other family members in your prayers.

She was born Aug. 2, 1927, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of Jules and Estella Proskine. She was the eldest of their two children. She was married twice. First to Robert Cohn, the father of her two children, Mary Katherine, who preceded her in death, and John Karl Proskine, who survives her. Her second marriage was to Tony Pecoraro, who passed away while they were living in Houston. Her sister, Mary Jane Barr, is another survivor. Her burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery and her funeral service was Friday, March 22, in the Evergreen Baptist Church. Do remember her survivors in your prayers. If anyone wishes, they may make contributions in her memory to Evergreen Cemetery, 8700 CR 172, Io-la, Texas 77861.

•Work is almost finished on the pavilion in the back of Evergreen Free Will Baptist Church. Drive by and take a look. I bet that the kids and even adults will enjoy playing basketball once it is finished.
