Tyler Calhoun, from Anderson, battled strong winds and a heavy heart to win the National High School Finals Rodeo Championship in tiedown roping. The day he clinched the championship in Gillette, Wyoming with a run of 8.28 seconds, was the same day his grandfather, F. D. Calhoun, was being laid to rest back home. Calhoun finished with a total time of 27.41 with runs of 8.58, 10.55 and 8.28. He is the son of Poppa and Sylvia Calhoun. Courtesy photos
